The sessions encourage young people to develop their vocabulary of emotional literacy, giving them skills to express their feelings effectively.
I know that we all experience a variety of thoughts and emotions that affect how we feel and behave and I am learning ways of managing them.

The aim of sessions is to encourage young people to think positively, develop self-esteem, self-compassion and confidence with positive words.
I understand that there are people I can talk to and that there are a number of ways in which I can gain access to practical and emotional support to help me and others in a range of circumstances.

Benefits of positive affirmations: helps calm and focus the mind; promotes positive thinking and resilience; develops self-esteem, self-compassion and self-confidence.
I understand that my feelings and reactions can change depending upon what is happening within and around me. This helps me to understand my own behaviour and the way others behave.

Young people utilise massage, stretching and breathing exercises to self regulate, empowering them to cope well with feelings, moods and reactions.
I know that friendship, caring, sharing, fairness, equality and love are important in building positive relationships. As I develop and value relationships, I care and show respect for myself and others.

Young people are engaged in an environment that is respectful, caring and promotes sharing and understanding of feelings, engendering healthy, empowering friendships.
I understand the importance of mental wellbeing and that this can be fostered and strengthened through personal coping skills and positive relationships.

The sessions help young people to engage using tools to develop optimum mental wellbeing. They are shown how to use self-massage as a calming strategy that can be used in challenging times. Young people are shown how to use breathing exercises as a useful tool for coping with feelings and bringing calmness and restfulness.
I am learning skills and strategies which will support me in challenging times.

Young people are encouraged to see the best in others and treat everyone with kindness and understanding, particularly through the affirmations element of each session.
